Influence Asia 2017: Celebrating the Online Influencers

This weekend, a large number of popular and influential social media personalities from all over the region gathered together at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to celebrate Influence Asia 2017, Asia’s largest social media awards show. This year’s event marked the second time it was hosted after the success of the inaugural show in Singapore back in 2015.

Organised and produced by influencer marketing and media company Gushcloud and hosted by Yello Digital Marketing (YDM), this year’s Influence Asia marked the second time it was hosted since the success of the inaugural show in Singapore back in 2015.

Taking place at Plenary Hall in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the event saw over 300+ nominees from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Korea vying for the top awards in nine categories with Singaporean rapper, Sheikh Haikel and former Miss Universe Malaysia 2012 pageant, Juanita Ramayah at the helm as hosts for the evening.

The award ceremony was further enlivened with the appearances of guest artists from all over the region such as Project E.A.R, DeFam, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Tulus and Jessica Jung. Their energetic and world class performances proved to be the icing on the cake for what was already an exciting event.

Taking on the tagline “For The Future” as the theme for this year, Influence Asia aims to be the largest, most watched and most respected live awards show in honouring individual or group achievements in the Social Media Influence industry across Asia. And their purpose? To build professionalism, sustainability, positivity, legitimacy and respect in the Social Media Influence industry amongst all players in the industry.

It is a bold step in acknowledging today’s youths for their tackling of the rapidly changing modern lifestyle via the clever use of social media. One can only imagine how big the industry will grow around this within the next 10-20 years and we believe that through events like this, we can generate positive awareness and impact for society in times to come.
